NEW BRIDGE COMPLETED                                                                          June 15, 2026

A new bridge over Salt Creek on Co. Rd. 174, Creamery Hill Road just outside of Laurelville is now complete and open to traffic, according to County Engineer Bill Shaw.

The three span, 165 ft. by 24 ft. composite prestressed concrete box beam bridge was built on existing piers and abutments at a cost of a little over $1,011,000 to replace a bridge of similar size built in 1974.

The contractor on the project was R.C. Construction Company & Son, Inc. of Cutler, Ohio.

According to Shaw, this project has been in the works for 6 or 7 years, with 80% of its costs paid for by the Federal Highway Administration.

Construction required the closure of the road for approximately three and a half months, requiring a several mile detour through Adelphi for residents living on the south side of the bridge. Shaw added, “We appreciate the patience of all during this construction period. We are very pleased to complete this project in the shortest amount of time possible so travelers can resume their normal routes. It should serve the area for at least the next 75 years.”
